Artist Biography
I am an acrylic painter with a passion for colour, pattern and gold leaf. A lifelong resident of Edmonton, I juggled a 27 year administrative career with working/teaching art through public gallery programs in Edmonton and St. Albert.

I was a resident artist at the Visual Art Studio Association (VASA) in St. Albert for 13 years, but now work exclusively in my home studio in Edmonton.

Since 2015, I have been honoured to work with the Canada 150 Mural Mosaic team painting images for community murals all over the country.

In 1993, I received my Fine Art diploma (with Distinction) from Grant MacEwan College. My paintings, including several commissioned portraits, are held in private and public collections across Alberta.
Artist Statement
As a painter, I enjoy the process of transforming a blank surface into a visually interesting image. As an artist, I use images as a starting point in exploring different methods and materials, such as collage, encaustics and digital photo manipulation.

A recurrent theme in my work is the merging of past and present, old and new, real and unreal - contemporary realism set within gilded surfaces, brocades, and Klimt-like backdrops or traditional landscapes painted from electronically manipulated images.

Ever curious, my artistic journey has taken me from still life to figure and everything in-between. I prefer working quickly in order to capture a heartfelt response to my subject.

In my recent Birds and Nests series, I am exploring concepts of home, of rootedness and new beginnings.
