Artist Biography

I was born in Ukraine, where I attended an Art School, we used to do a lot of drawing from nature, delighting in the intimacy gained through such close looking at a subject. I used to paint very specific and tried to archive perfect real pictures. But now my artistic vision has changed completely . I moved to Canada to St Albert in 2013 and became an abstract artist.My paintings are mostly acrylic on canvas and my signature work consists of bright, and mixed metallic colors, with heavily-layered textured effects.
Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.
From the time I can remember I was always making some kind of art, from sculpting homemade play dough to holiday decorations and craft projects and painting, of course.I belive abstract art is not "about nothing". At its basis, it is about form, color, line, texture, pattern, composition and process. These are the formal qualities of artwork, because they describe what the art looks like and how it is created. Abstract art is an exploration of these formal qualities...
