Exploring Printmaking

Instructor: Katherine Hutton

Instructor Bio:

In addition to a fine arts degree, Katherine brings a breadth of experience in artistic practice across a variety of mediums. She has also taught art classes in community, gallery and studio settings.

About the class:

For beginners and those with some print experience, spend an evening exploring printmaking and using a professional printing press. Participants will learn and practice making monoprints and monotypes, using a variety of techniques and materials to make a small collection of prints. You will also explore printing on painted papers for added fun! During the evening, we will explore ways that these prints, block printing, stamps, stencils, and painted papers can be incorporated into your paintings.

Supplies provided by instructor:

Materials supplied include paper, inks, variety of printing texture products and materials, use of print plates, brayers and barrens.

Please bring:

Participants are welcome to bring source inspiration, e.g. pictures.
