Telling the Full Story With Peggy McPherson

I would like participants to bring their unfinished painting or sketches of paintings they wish to start on so that together we can plan to maximize the effects that they would like to create. Any medium is acceptable. We will need to refer to the photograph that they are working from as well.

Are you often surprised when you see the subject of a favorite photograph and it is much different from what you expected? Photographs do not represent the full story. The camera is not able to duplicate what the eye sees when it comes to colour, accuracy, depth of field and temperatures of highlights and shadows.
A hands-on workshop will be held in lieu of the regular monthly meeting on January 15, 2014. The evening will begin with a short presentation of well-known Canadian paintings followed by a discussion of how Colour and Design theories have been utilized to create each composition. The majority of the class will be for participants to plan a composition from their own photographs.
